ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSION
Sarah Lawrence College, a small highly selective co-educational liberal arts college located in Westchester County, NY, 15 miles from New York City, characterized by a tradition of innovation in education, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Director or Associate Director of Admission.
Responsibilities include managing all aspects of recruitment to enrollment. This position will include: traveling to visit high schools, college fairs, and community-based organizations; conducting information sessions and interviews with prospective students, keeping open lines of communication to facilitate ongoing conversations and serving on admissions committees. The successful candidate will also: serve as a public relations and communications liaison for the Office of Admission; provide excellent and prompt writing; manage additional admissions staff and student support in the generation of timely communications pieces; utilize the Sarah Lawrence website as an important communications tool.
The position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree, a valid driver’s license, three to six years of admission experience, outstanding communication and organizational skills, strong, self-motivated work ethic, and an appreciation of the value of a liberal arts education; outstanding knowledge of technology, and excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, the ability and confidence to exercise discretion while working independently and as part of a team, and the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Attention to detail, and the ability to analyze data to inform decision making are essential. Must be willing to travel extensively and work extended hours, evenings, and weekends when necessary.
