GENERAL DUTIES :



-Designs, implements and monitors an array of academic initiatives, programs, priorities, and functions
-Develops strategic plans, academic program proposals, and curricular reports
-Assesses outcomes to improve services and support student success
-Creates and oversees academic support initiatives
-Administers College articulation efforts
-Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and reporting requirements
-Liaisons with faculty and professional staff in departments and offices across the College
-Manages operational and program budgets; manages, trains, and develops staff
- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION:



In addition to the above mentioned, the Academic Assessment Director will also perform the following duties:



-Directs a collaborative, systematic, and integrated institutional assessment process that is aligned with regional and national accreditation processes and other accountability requirements.



-Collaborates with academic departments in their program reviews and meeting accreditation requirements and preparation of documentation for accrediting bodies.



-Develops assessment instruments including tests, surveys, observation protocols, interview focus group questionnaires, and rubrics for using in authentic assessment of student work.



-Develops training materials on outcomes assessment and provides guidance to faculty and staff in their use. Plans and carries out a regular schedule of assessment workshops.



-Maintains and updates the College's assessment website which includes annual program review/accreditation calendars and materials related to continuous assessment at the College (e.g., program goals and schematics; assessment committee memberships).



-Writes and edits the College's bi-weekly assessment newsletter, "Fortnight"



-Represents the College on CUNY's Assessment Council and national forums as needed.



-Serves as a subject matter expert about assessment practices and research findings on student learning outcomes in higher education.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:



-Advanced degree (PhD or other terminal degree) preferred



-Experience in student learning outcomes assessment, program, and degree accreditation processes, and college self-studies for accreditation highly desired; experience as a tenured faculty member is a plus



-Experience or familiarity with regional and national accreditation bodies and program level assessment



-Experience or familiarity with setting strategic goals, establishing processes to achieve them and periodic assessment of the level of achievement of these goals



- Experience or familiarity with the functioning of college-wide committees in a shared governance environment



-Excellent writing abilities, impeccable organizational skills, and attention to detail



-Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and staff



-Ability to establish priorities among multiple demands and projects



-Experience or familiarity with website development and web based content
management systems



COMPENSATION:



Commensurate with experience.
