The College of Education, Information and Technology at Long Island University - Post Campus offers exciting opportunities for curriculum development and interdisciplinary research spanning education, computer science, library and information science, information management and technology, information systems and management engineering. The next Dean, working with faculty, will play a key role in shaping and leading these new initiatives, both within the College and in collaboration with other schools and colleges across the campus. He/she will also expand the College’s relationships with local schools, cultural institutions, corporations and other colleges and universities.
The new Dean must have a strong commitment to the education of students in the College’s various programs and a clear focus on preparing students for challenging and fulfilling careers. The successful candidate will be an innovative and accomplished educational leader with the passion and intellect to guide the College in rapidly changing disciplines and professional fields. He/she will facilitate curricular innovation and lead the College with an academic entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to expanding the College’s engagement with regional, national and international communities, the Dean will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new sources of external funding. We seek an energetic visionary and transformational leader possessing exceptional communication skills and a commitment to instructional excellence, faculty development and resource development. Candidates for the position must present an outstanding record of scholarly accomplishment and demonstrated success in nurturing faculty scholarship and funded research. Candidates must also possess experience with accreditation, financial management and strategic planning. An understanding of national and regional educational trends is expected. An earned doctorate in one of the fields represented in the College and a successful record of higher education leadership are required. Preferred starting date is September 1, 2014.
