Technology Full Time Instructors (Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Full-time Instructor and Electronics & Electrical Technology Full-time Instructor)

We have 2 instructor position opportunities; one is an Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Full-time Instructor and the other is an Electronics and Electrical Technology Full-time Instructor. We are accepting applications for these instructor positions, both to start in the fall semester of 2014.


Our faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications. In addition, full-time faculty have the following key responsibilities which are described more fully in the Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities section of the job description:

Specific Teaching Assignments:

  • The faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration.

  • The faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in Electronics Technology. (Areas could include electronics, electrical, controls, microcontrollers, and robotics)


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration, Full-time Instructor
1. Candidate must meet one of the following:
A. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in ACHR, Mechanical, Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
B. Bachelor’s Degree with (an ACHR related Associate’s Degree OR a minimum of 30 credit hours in ACHR related courses).
C. Bachelor’s Degree and advanced professional credential, such as a Journeyman’s card in ACHR.

In all cases Bachelor’s Degree must be from an accredited institution.*

2. Two (2) years of (full-time equivalency) practical experience needed in residential/commercial ACHR.
3. Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
4. Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
5. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Electronics and Electrical Technology, Full-time Instructor

1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Applied Science, Industrial/Technical, or related degree with 30 credit hours in Electrical and/or
In all cases Bachelor’s Degree must be from an accredited institution.*
2. Two (2) years’ work experience in the field of electronics.
3. Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
4. Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
5. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
