Assistant or Associate Professor of Envi
Position Description: The College of Natural Resources (CNR) has a full time (9-month), tenure track, academic year teaching (100%) position available in the Department of Paper Science and Engineering. The position’s primary responsibilities will be to provide undergraduate instruction (12 credits per semester) in environmental engineering and/or related disciplines. These courses will contribute to the development of a potential new Environmental Engineering program. This position will collaborate with the Soil and Waste Resources and Water Resources faculty in the CNR. Other duties include undergraduate and graduate advising, and contribution to College and University governance. Faculty members are expected to accomplish a record of scholarly achievement in their field of interest to complement teaching responsibilities. Opportunities exist for involvement in research, outreach and international programs to meet University scholarship and service requirements. Experience in and desire to work with diverse populations of learners and stakeholders is expected.
Department/University Description: The Paper Science and Engineering program (www.uwsp.edu/papersci) is accredited by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission and is located in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (www.uwsp.edu/cnr). The College supports premier undergraduate natural resource programs with disciplines in Fisheries and Water Resources, Forestry, Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management, Soil and Waste Resources, Wildlife Ecology, and the Department of Paper Science and Engineering. The University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point is a comprehensive regional university with 9,500 undergraduate and 250 graduate students. Stevens Point, a pleasant college community with a population of 25,000, is midway between Milwaukee and Minneapolis near the center of the state. The area offers a wide range of cultural, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities.
-Candidates for the appointment should have or be near completion of a Ph.D. in the area of environmental engineering or a related engineering field by the date of appointment. The relevant Ph.D. is required prior to the first retention decision.
- Industrial experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of air quality issues is desirable.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Teaching experience or those that can demonstrate a clear potential to develop effective teaching skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A strong commitment to student learning and professional development.
Appointment Date: August 1, 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Terms of Employment: Assistant or Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering, tenure track, full-time, academic year appointment (9 months). Salary is commensurate with education and professional experience.
