Responsibilities:

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs functions as the chief student affairs officer for the system and provides system-level support and advocacy for all student affairs functions on the college and university campuses.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Advance campus efforts to increase student success.
• Monitor legislative initiatives related to student affairs and serve as the system spokesperson on student affairs-related issues before the legislature.
• Provide leadership for the continued development and enhancement of the student affairs-related modules of the Integrated Statewide Record System (ISRS).
• Manage a team of student affairs professionals spanning several content areas including financial aid, student life, disability services, college transitions, teacher education, and policy and procedure.
• Convene meetings of student affairs user groups, including admissions directors, registrars, financial aid directors, assessment directors, and chief student affairs officers.
• Provide leadership for the development of system policy in all areas related to academic and student affairs and assist campuses to comply with system policy.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A master's degree, in college student personnel, counseling, or higher education administration.
• Seven years of work experience in student affairs including at least three years at the program director level (or equivalent) or higher.
• In-depth knowledge of student development philosophy and practice, evidenced by work experience in at least two different student affairs functional areas (admissions, financial aid, counseling, student life, Deans, CSAOs, etc.).
• Experience in academic consultation and shared governance processes.
• Excellent group facilitation, consensus building, and public presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education administration, or an academic field.
• Experience as a chief student affairs officer at a college or university.
• Student affairs work experience in more than one type of college or university (community college, university, private, public, etc.).
• Student affairs work experience in a college or university system office.
• Experience working with legislators and legislative staff members and testifying at legislative hearings.
• Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
