Senior Associate Director, IRT
Phillips Academy Andover seeks an experienced, dynamic and creative individual to fill a twelve month administrative position of Senior Associate Director of the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT). Collaborating with members of the IRT staff, especially the Executive Director, the Senior Associate Director will work with the consortium graduate program deans and admissions officers to coordinate the graduate school application process, support the Coordinator for Recruitment and Admissions to execute strategic recruitment and retention plans, and organize and participate in advisory board meetings. Other key responsibilities will include recruitment, extensive student advising on graduate school applications as well as program degree and field selection, convene and lead staff meetings, retreats and trainings, and work with the Executive Director to create and implement strategically meaningful and innovative educational programs and activities that advance the IRT mission. The Senior Associate Director will assist the Executive Director to oversee office administration and supervise a summer program for rising college seniors, including the faculty hired to teach in this program. The ideal candidate should have a strong and proven track record supervising staff and providing direction in all office management procedures.

Qualifications include: A critical familiarity with education reform issues, an academic background in the social sciences, humanities, or education as well as flexibility and adaptability are essential skills and qualifications in this role. The candidate should possess at least a master’s degree in education, the humanities, or social science and demonstrate a commitment to working with students of color. In addition, the Senior Associate Director should have some experience with budget preparations, grant applications and annual report writing. Successful candidates must have a demonstrated track record working with diverse students, superior individual and teamwork ethic, excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and manage multitasking individuals in a fast-paced environment, willingness to travel, excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess superior relationship management skills, the ability to creatively collect and interpret quantitative and qualitative data that generates excitement about the IRT mission, and the ability to communicate with diverse constituencies about the IRT’s mission and work. Fluency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as online applications, webinar and social networking tools is necessary.

The projected start date is July 1, 2014. This is a permanent 12-month position (September through July with August off).
