The Department of Social Work at the College of Staten Island, of The City University of New York, invites applications for a substitute position at the rank of Associate Professor of Social Work beginning August, 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The area of specialization is open, but we are especially interested in candidates who have administrative experience in the academy.

Responsibilities also include teaching, curriculum development, assistance with initial CSWE accreditation of the new MSW program, advisement, and service to the department and college.

This position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will be committed to inclusive excellence and will have a history of effective and collaborative work with diverse groups.

We encourage applicants who have experience teaching and mentoring diverse students. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply.

We anticipate a search for a permanent replacement in the future.

** A Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field, an MSW from a CSWE accredited program, two years of post MSW social work practice experience, and an interest in program development and accreditation are required.

Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. It is preferred that candidates have an established record of research and publications in peer reviewed journals.
