Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs or designee, the Director of Development will serve as a key member of the frontline fundraising staff. He/she will plan and manage gift giving strategy with the objective of substantially increasing and sustaining philanthropic engagement of individuals with major and planned gift capacity. Responsibilities include

  • Manage and build a portfolio of individual prospects, donors, and potential volunteer leaders.
  • Utilize both current and planned gift vehicles to best meet donors' needs, interests, and financial capabilities.
  • In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and administer planned giving program including printed materials and marketing strategy.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit major and planned gifts from individual prospects in support of CSI schools, programs, capital projects and fundraising events.
  • Serve as advancement liaison for Dean's Executive Board of Visitors for select school(s).
  • Oversee Annual Gala (Celestial Ball).
  • Collaborate with stewardship colleagues to ensure proper stewardship of donors and gift funds.
  • Complete and file thorough reports of all contacts in a timely manner.


Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.


  • Highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts with an emphasis on major gifts from individuals
  • Basic knowledge of planned giving vehicles as components of major gift solicitations
  • Capacity to engage people in diverse settings and contexts
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and strategic thinking skills- Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge a strong plus
