Director of Reiman Gardens
Iowa State University seeks an accomplished Director for Reiman Gardens to provide dynamic and strategic leadership to advocate and support the Gardens to becoming a premier university botanical garden. The Director reports to the Senior Vice President for Business and Finance. Areas of responsibility include administration of a $2.5 million operating budget, professionally represent the gardens both internally and externally, market the Gardens to increase visitation, memberships and revenues, develop educational programs, collaborate with university academic, research and outreach programs, promoting to the tourism and business communities, and fundraising and overseeing the use of revenue from operating and endowment accounts currently totaling $8.7 million.

The successful candidate will be a collaborator and creative problem solver who has demonstrated success as a transformational leader in building a high performing team. A record of innovation in program delivery, progressive management, technical expertise in botanical gardens or related fields, and experience in strategically moving the organization tangibly forward. A bachelor’s degree and eight years of related experience is required. A master’s degree and 6 years of related experience is preferred. Candidates should have knowledge of the higher education environment and familiarity with fund raising, membership development, and the complexities of a teaching and research institution. The possibility of an academic appointment with a relevant department exists.
