Starting Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Involves providing a variety of IT services in a unit. Assignments may include applications programming development and maintenance, systems administration, desktop support, business systems analysis, web applications development and/or maintenance, or a combination of these and/or other IT functions.

This position supports, manages and administers applications, hardware, software, business processes associated with Residential Networking (ResNet), as well as performing general IT work as a Local IT Specialist (LITS). ResNet is the residential network and computer service provided to students living at UCSC. This includes the Residence Halls, Campus Apartments, and Family Student Housing. Local IT Specialists deliver general IT services that may range from the support of proprietary and/or vendor provided systems to developing and maintaining custom database applications to specialized hardware including multi-function devices, IP cameras, Point of Sale systems, large format printing, etc.

Assignments may include the configuration of applications and systems to campus standards and/or specialized business requirements; daily maintenance of systems; planning and consultation with campus units; maintaining compliance reporting for copyright purposes; managing aspects of PCI compliant environments; managing aspects of HIPPA compliant workstations; providing and delivery of training and supervision to student staff and documenting systems and processes.

This position must be able to work effectively as part of a multi-unit functional team to develop and implement standards, plan for new and upgraded systems, establish and maintain client relations and deliver predictable services to a diverse constituency of clients including students and staff.

Qualifications include:

Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Knowledge of professional concepts.

Knowledge of applications programming technologies, tools and protocols.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Ability to supervise and manage student staff and all operational aspects of ResNet Services.
