English & Philosophy Faculty Positions
Lewis University seeks an Assistant Professor of English, tenure-track and an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, non-tenure track. Both positions will begin August 2018.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, ENGLISH
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach courses in the first-year writing and undergraduate majors programs
• Pursue an active scholarly agenda in the innovative teaching of writing and writing program administration
• Provide service to the department focused on First-Year Writing, Professional Writing, and students majoring in Writing and English. Teaching load is 4/4

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition; at least three years related teaching experience. Candidates who are ABD will be considered if degree requirements will be completed by August 2018. Experience in undergraduate writing program administration preferred.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, PHILOSOPHY
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach a total of 12 credit hours per semester
• Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technologies effectively
• Advise and mentor students
• Support recruitment and retention of students
• Engage in scholarly activities, such as publications and academic conference presentations in fields of expertise
• Actively participate in Department meetings, program assessment, and curriculum planning
• Engage in other service to Department, College, and University as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Philosophy and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Preferred areas of specialization: Ancient or Medieval Philosophy
