Teaching Professor
UNC Charlotte is seeking applicants for a Teaching Professor position. The Department of Software and Information Systems (SIS) is in the College of Computing and Informatics and contributes to teaching core courses in the BA/BS in Computer Science and offers concentrations in cybersecurity, human centered design, IT, web app development, and software engineering.
UNC Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research university. Located in the state's largest metropolitan area, UNC Charlotte is among the fastest growing universities in the UNC System. The College of Computing and Informatics is experiencing significant growth in student numbers and externally funded research. The Department of Software and Information Systems has established relationships with local industry partners and is seeing a surge of interest in its core areas of teaching and research.
In joining the Department of Software and Information Systems you will become part of an exciting time of new curriculum development and innovative research. The department offers degrees at the Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. levels.
The applicant must have a commitment to the mentorship of students from underrepresented and underserved populations in computing. The successful applicant will participate in our Center for Education Innovation, our efforts in extending active learning practices, engage students in extra-curricular and undergraduate research activities, and promote programs that provide professional development for our diverse student body. Primary responsibilities are to teach three courses per semester ranging from introductory to upper division courses. An ideal applicant will have a combination of a PhD degree in CS or a related discipline (required) and prior experience teaching computer science courses with preference for teaching and/or industry experience in cybersecurity.
