Director of Development, Medicine
The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) is seeking a Director of Development at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development for the College of Medicine, the ideal candidate will be successful at collaborating, establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships with UTHSC’s internal and external constituencies which would include the Executive Dean and the College of Medicine’s nearly 40 statewide departments, Regional Directors of Development, and the Chair of Hamilton Eye Institute.

Responsibilities include working in coordination with the Senior Director of Development for the College of Medicine and faculty members of the College of Medicine and the Hamilton Eye Institute in determining philanthropic priorities for each department and division. In coordination with the Senior Director, this position will develop a portfolio of new prospects and major giving prospects that align with those priorities. This individual will have a goal of conducting 160 face-to-face visits with potential or current donors each year along with performing other administrative responsibilities in assisting the Senior Director conducting fundraising activities such as marketing strategies, planning, developing correspondence, speeches, reports, and budget preparation. Travel as required; comply with the department’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relatable field; a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five or more years of experience in non-profit fundraising or alumni affairs related experience is required. College-based fundraising, higher education fundraising, or health care fundraising is preferred.

Skills: The preferred candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be team oriented, and demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills. A successful candidate must possess the ability to build and maintain strong relationships. The ability and willingness to travel both locally and nationally is required. Supervisory or management skills and ANDI experience are preferred.
