Clinical Faculty & Director of Field Experiences: Pupil Personnel Services Division -Visalia Campus

POSITION: Full-time, with faculty rank; non-continuing status track faculty position in the Division of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS); 11-month faculty appointment in the School of Education.

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2018

BACKGROUND This clinical faculty position serves FPU campuses in North Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield and Merced. The director will coordinate field experience programs across all campuses and will meet regularly with the PPS Division Chair. This full-time position will be responsible for teaching courses in one of the PPS programs. The Program Director reports directly to the Chair of the PPS Programs and the Dean of the School of Education. The programs have experienced significant growth over the last four years.

ROLE
• Provide support, in collaboration with the School of Education Office of Clinical Practices, for the field experience components embedded in the PPS programs;
• Oversee the placement of School Counseling, School Psychology and BCBA students;
• Coordinate with local districts for practicum, fieldwork and internships;
• Serve as liaison between Fresno Pacific University and the districts that employ FPU interns.
• Ongoing professional development and participation in teacher preparation professional organizations, and agencies;
• Maintain professional memberships and professional development;
• Identify, recruit and train clinical faculty for the PPS Division;
• Manage all Student Practicum, Fieldwork and Intern Contracts and MOU’s;
• Maintain updated Field Experience Handbook for the PPS Programs; handbooks provide guidance for FPU faculty, Mentors, and district;
• Respond to changing accreditation regulations from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing regarding supervised fieldwork;
• Maintain databases which contain accurate, up-to-date information pertaining to all field experience assignments;
• Cultivate dynamic, working relationships with district and schools within the service area of the Fresno Pacific Campuses in order to identify and secure
high quality placement opportunities for PPS students;
• Foster relationships with local districts to encourage participation in field-based research activities by PPS students during field experiences;
• Complete all arrangements to secure placements of students enrolled in the PPS programs in local K-12 school districts;
• Work collaboratively with PPS program directors, candidates and fieldwork supervisors;
• Work collaboratively with PPS program directors and supervisors, respond to reports from FPU faculty and/or school personnel regarding problems in practicum, fieldwork or intern placements;
• Teach courses required in the PPS program (course assignments based on faculty person’s academic and professional knowledge, expertise, and experience);
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the PPS Chair and Dean of the School of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• M.A. in Counseling or Psychology, or related field;
• Prior leadership experience;
• Commitment to preparing PPS students to work in diverse and high poverty K-12 schools;
• Experience in developing dynamic multi-agency partnerships;
• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment;
• Evidence of having acquired highly effective professional communication skills;
• Significant, demonstrated skills in utilizing technology to enhance communication and maintain accurate records;
• Demonstrated success working with diverse communities; and
• Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.

Preferred:
• Terminal degree;
• Record or promise of professional contributions to the field of education, and/or scholarly achievement;
• K-12 School Counseling or School Psychology experience;
• Membership in a Mennonite Brethren or Anabaptist congregation.

COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
