The University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease and International Medicine is seeking a PhD Researcher with at least 10 years of experience in molecular parasitology with preference for important apicomplexan models such as Toxoplasma gondii and/or Plasmodium falciparum. This person will manage the operations of a multi-disciplinary systems biology program focusing upon the cell cycle mechanisms that regulate the growth of Toxoplasma gondii and/or Plasmodium falciparum.  Expertise in cell biology, biochemistry of protein kinases, genetic manipulation of parasites and proteomics techniques is essential.  Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing and coordinating activities of a multi-disciplinary team are required. The majority of work will focus upon T. gondii cell cycle with some studies comparing findings to Plasmodium species. Position is tenure-earning. The candidate should have good scientific judgment and be able to think and work independently.  First or senior author publications in upper tier molecular parasitology journals such as PLoS Pathogens or PLoS Biology are desirable as is experience with writing and submitting NIH grants.
