Faculty Position in Innate Immunity
University of Massachusetts Medical School

The Program in Innate Immunity (http://www.umassmed.edu/pii) and the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology (https://www.umassmed.edu/infdis/) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. We have a major interest in innate immunity, inflammation, autoimmunity, and host-microbe interactions including the microbiome. We embrace different experimental systems including human and patient-based studies, murine and invertebrate model systems along with approaches that harness host and/or microbe genetics, cell biology, immunology, genomics and/or systems biology. Successful candidates will conduct innovative research to understand host-pathogen interactions, mechanisms of infectious or inflammatory diseases, and/or develop novel therapies for immune-mediated diseases. Candidates need not necessarily conduct research directly focused on Innate Immunity but should indicate how their research will synergize with ongoing research within the Program & Division, as well as the greater UMass Medical School community. UMMS faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research and service, and the successful candidate will be expected to direct an externally funded independent research program as well as participate in graduate and/or medical education. Modern laboratory space will be provided in the Lazare Research Building and extensive core facilities are available on campus. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (or equivalents), and a record of significant research accomplishments with the potential or demonstrated ability to lead an independent research program. Highest priority will be given to investigators with outstanding research programs that enhance our current strengths. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to engage in collaborative research endeavors. Review of applications will begin expeditiously and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should upload a cover letter, CV, research statement and publication list to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/11410. To expedite the review process, applicants should also invite three individuals who are familiar with their work and potential for success to upload recommendation letters. Please refer any inquiries (but not application materials) to: Neal Silverman, PhD, Search Committee Chair and Professor of Medicine, neal.silverman@umassmed.edu.
