Associate Academic Dean, Nursing and Hea
Under the direction of the Dean of Nursing and Health Professions and Technologies, the Director is primarily responsible for assisting the Dean in the coordination and management of the health programs offered at the Southfield and Highland Lakes Campuses. Works closely with the Dean in support of the existing programs, in the initiation and implementation of new programs, and in continuing education programs. Variable schedule, including some evening and weekends required. Reports to the Dean of Nursing Health Professions. The employee is expected to work in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.
This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required.
1. Assist the Dean in the day-to-day management of all assigned nursing and health programs.
2. Interface with campus services (e.g. Library, ASC, Enrollment Services, Bookstore, Counseling, etc.) regarding the needs for the nursing/health programs.
3. Provide information regarding the nursing and health programs to students, prospective students, faculty and staff.
4. Coordinate and oversee new nursing and health programs and continuing education classes offered in the nursing and health areas.
5. Assist in maintaining accurate data regarding student admission, progression, retention and graduation. Provide appropriate reports regarding this data.
6. Coordinate, oversee and support continuing education offerings and opportunities for students in nursing and health.
7. Oversee ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and maintain necessary records.
8. Assist the dean in identifying and recommending adjunct faculty for the assigned programs, as well as their evaluation and participate in the orientation of adjunct faculty.
9. Evaluate existing and new clinical sites to determine the feasibility of their use for clinical teaching.
10. Ensure the timely preparation and filing of appropriate documents and reports required by regulatory and accrediting agencies.
11. Assist with organizing special events or projects as assigned, related to the nursing and assigned health programs.
12. Responsible for reviewing student applications and participate in the orientation of new students.
13. Assist in planning and participate in the annual nursing programs advisory committee.
14. Oversee the maintenance of student physical/immunization records, criminal background checks and drug screening.
15. Work with dean to implement major research, planning, assessment and tracking initiatives relating to curriculum development, program development, student learning and other designated projects.
16. Serve as a liaison to work with the Administrative Specialists to appropriately research, direct and route student questions, appeals and other related issues.
17. Mediate conflict and resolve issues involving faculty, staff, and students; meet with students to discuss problems, complaints, and assist in devising equitable responses and solutions.
18. Facilitate ongoing program and faculty evaluation and assessment.
19. Serve on appropriate college wide committees assisting with the formation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
20. Manage and resolve student problems and concerns and recommend decisions to the dean.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Master of Science degree in Nursing. Must be eligible for Licensure in Michigan.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of teaching in nursing. One (1) year of management experience in higher education, preferred.
