Research Technician
The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Surgery is recruiting a full-time Research Technician.

Primary duties include isolation, culture, and cryopreservation of human hepatocytes and characterization of the final cell product. Additional duties include assistance in general laboratory experiments, laboratory operation, maintenance of equipment, media preparation and laboratory compliance with quality control and safety. This position is designed for a flexible work schedule (alternative work arrangements).

• Familiarity with sterile techniques, handling chemicals and use of protective items.

• Flexibility and willingness to be on call and work irregular hours when necessary.

• Willingness and ability to participate in the GMP (cleanroom) laboratory training.

• Willingness and ability to work with laboratory animals (rodents, NHP)

• Demonstrated ability to handle and process human tissue specimens for testing.

• Possess the ability to multi-task and to focus while conducting activities that are repetitive in nature. Familiarity with cryostat, microtome, microscope. Understanding of basic molecular biology. Familiarity with cryostat, microtome, microscope. Understanding of basic molecular biology.
