Job Description
The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applicants for a non-tenure earning, nine-month instructor or lecturer position in Emerging Media. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2019. SVAD seeks a candidate with a balance of technical and theoretical foundations. The successful candidate will play an important role in the School of Visual Arts and Design’s Emerging Media BFA, which includes the following tracks: Character Animation, Experimental Animation, and Graphic Design. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles and elements of design. Core areas will include 2-D/3-D animation, 3-D modeling and texturing, motion graphics, rendering and compositing, animation production, development and design, concept art, and a strong understanding of the moving image. The principal duties of this position include teaching a four-course load per semester and service.

Position Minimum Qualifications
A non terminal master’s degree (for instructor) or a terminal degree (for lecturer) in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution by start of appointment. Appropriate disciplines include digital art, film, animation, the fine arts or media-related discipline. Candidates must have at least one year of relevant professional industry production experience as well as previous teaching experience in the field of emerging media.

Candidates with teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education are preferred. Additionally, teaching experience in one or more of the following software is helpful: Toon Boom Harmony, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud. A strong understanding of traditional and digital 2-D animation and the production pipeline is encouraged.
