Assistant Project Scientist
The Project Engineer or Scientist will lead and manage a multi-year measurement and modeling project at Clear Lake, California, a highly eutrophic lake in northern California. This will require the collection and analysis of high frequency time-series field data using in-situ moorings, the collection and analysis of high-resolution profile data along with water and sediment samples for laboratory analysis, the numerical modeling of this complex three-basin lake using a three-dimensional model, representing the project to local and regional stakeholders, and leading the development of educational and outreach materials.

Basic qualifications include a PhD in engineering, hydrology, limnology or a related field, and experience with the measurement and analysis of time series lake data and lake modeling. Demonstrated ability to conduct and lead field limnology experiments that includes the collection and analysis of time series data, biogeochemical data, and meteorological data. Demonstrated experience with the use of numerical lake models. A demonstrated ability to quickly turn research results into peer-reviewed publications. Experience with communicating with a diverse set of stakeholders.

Additional qualifications: experience in working on small boats, experience working in isolated locations under harsh climatic conditions, excellent computing skills using Matlab and similar software. Fluency in Spanish to enable participation in projects in Latin America and Spain.

Preferred qualifications: experience working with and mentoring graduate students and field technicians.
