Flathead Valley Community College is an outstanding public community college located on a beautiful campus in Kalispell, Montana, with panoramic views of the northern Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park. We are seeking a committed professional to serve as the Executive Director of Information Technology.

* Directs and leads the Information Technology department, as well as operates and maintains computing facilities, services, and equipment to meet the academic and administrative needs of the College.

* Directs, coordinates and integrates the technology functions of the College in support of the college’s mission and strategic plan.

* Supervises and sets the priorities of a team to provide a wide range of technology services. Provides comprehensive guidance, fosters cooperative relationships, and delivers quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional helpful and courteous manner.

* Advises the President and senior leadership team. Provides strategic vision and leadership for the College regarding information technology; monitors issues, trends, and events and advises on planned programs of action.

* Serves as an ambassador for the College. Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships. Serves on internal and external boards and committees.

* Supervises the IT processes to protect the integrity and operation of the campus network.

* Develops, reviews, and certifies all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

* Develops and controls the security and privacy of the College’s information systems.

* Collaborates with campus partners to develop strategic technology management for advancement.

* Creates a multi-year plan for the College, overseeing all information technology aspects for new construction and renovation projects.

* Collects, reports, and utilizes data to make data informed decisions. Leads research and selection of technology related services.

* Keeps abreast of the latest developments in applicable areas to help build strategic initiatives. Identifies emerging technologies and supervises the development and implementation of new applications.

* Develops comprehensive guidelines and participates actively and with initiative in continuous improvement efforts to provide efficient and quality services.

* Provides information technology resources during crisis situations.
Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

* Reports to the President.

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND,
* A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible work experience in the areas of information technology; AND,
* A minimum of five years of work experience with significant management and leadership skills.

* Master's degree from an accredited college or university
* Work experience in technology in an educational setting
* Work experience with Campus Management/Campus Nexus information system
* Expertise in one of the following areas: server management with virtual server experience, database management, programming, secure data communications, and networking

* Skill in strategic planning for information technology
* Skill in the oversight of the use and maintenance of a campus operational data core
* Knowledge of server management with virtual server experience, database management, programming, secure data communications and networking
* Ability to operate successfully in a Windows environment
* Skill in infrastructure and resource load monitoring and planning
* Skill in classroom and lab computer and instructional presentation systems with user and classroom technology support
* Skill in user authentication and security monitoring and testing
* Ability to manage campus and public facing network and components
* Demonstrated skill in creating and managing a work climate of collaboration, collegiality and team work
* Strong time management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
* Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the college
* Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community
* Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
* Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.
* Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships
* Ability to follow and issue directions
* Demonstrated communication, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
* Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
* Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
* Ability to pass a criminal background check
* Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
* This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry.
Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
