Senior Library Assistant - MPU
Performs specialized, complex work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established guidelines with performance based on overall results obtained.

Essential Job Functions:
*Actively participates in library projects and cross-training with the Resources Management Processing Units to help meet library productivity and standards as needed.
*Assists with planning, coordinating and evaluating the implementation and continuing development of procedures and information technology relevant to holdings inventory and data entry.
*Entry and maintenance of statistical data in spreadsheets and on maintenance of stacks inventory. Participates in generating and verifying data for assessment.
*Assists with training and supervising of student assistants to meet project and inventory productivity standards.
*Good communication and organizational skills. Ability to communicate information effectively to team members and management as needed. Assists with setting goals and meeting deadlines.
*Oversees definitions and usage of codes, fields and data policies in the Library Management System.
*Provides support and expertise in the creation and maintenance of the library's database in order to facilitate access to collection information.
*Participates in departmental planning and needs analysis under the direction of the Inventory Library Associate and Unit Manager.

Occasional Duties:
*Provides support to the Collection Strategies Unit within the Resources Management Department as needed.
*Serve on committees as necessary. Attend Library meetings, staff development workshops and University training class sessions as needed. Completes special projects as assigned. Answers unit telephone.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus 4 yrs. of work experience. Additional education may substitute on a year for year basis. Microsoft Office experience; excellent customer service skills. Effective interpersonal and problem solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments. Works with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Keyboarding skills which results in a high level of accuracy. Ability to learn and work with computer applications unique to libraries or archives.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field. Two years of current library experience; Microsoft Office experience; excellent customer service skills; Effective interpersonal and problem solving skills; Good written and verbal communication skills; Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments; Works with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy; Keyboarding skills which results in a high level of accuracy; Ability to learn and work with computer applications unique to libraries or archives.
