Senior Library Associate - Architecture
Position Description

Performs advanced, specialized work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under minimal supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Works on special projects as assigned.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provides public service assistance at the Architecture Help Desk (Reserve & Reference) as assigned (Includes use of catalog and databases, locating materials, and using equipment)
• Responsible for daily Reserve and Circulation functions; (Includes processing and maintaining reserve materials; running and processing ALMA circulation services)
• Supervises student assistants; Works with supervisors in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising; Also includes keeping records and reviewing time sheets
• Provides clerical assistance for architecture librarians
• Processes some incoming and outgoing materials (Includes journals, books needing repair, ILL requests); Creates and maintains new book list
• Oversees daily maintenance of the library collection and facilities; Oversees equipment.
• Compiles and maintains various library statistics and records (Includes reserve counts, gifts, in-house use, gate counts, ILL records. Creates forms for recording)
• Supports the customer service philosophy of Texas Tech
• Complies with Texas Tech’s policies, procedures, and work rules

Occasional Duties

Serves on committees as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelors' degree in related field and four years library experience; knowledge and competencies of Microsoft Office. Relevant specialized work experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis. Ability to learn and work with computer applications unique to libraries or archives. Excellent customer services skills. Ability to follow library policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications
• Public service experience; Supervisory experience; Ability to search online catalog and databases with knowledge of bibliographic record to identify print and online materials
• Excellent communication skills in working with the public, faculty, and library colleagues
• Ability to understand Library of Congress classification and accomplish stacks maintenance
• Microsoft Office - especially Word and Excel
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment (computers, printers, scanners, TVs)
