Job Description:
Fredonia's Daniel A. Reed Library seeks a creative, collaborative, and dynamic student-centered Research & Information Literacy Services Librarian (Senior Assistant Librarian, NSN3). This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position represented by (UUP) United University Professions beginning 9/1/19.

This librarian partners with academic departments and disciplines, and collaborates with other faculty librarians in order to infuse information literacy and transliteracy skills across the curriculum in a sequenced, skill-building manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Library Director, the successful candidate will:

• Collaborate with the Associate Director of Research, Outreach, and Assessment to provide and market research tools and reference services; provide programming and research support to students, faculty and community patrons; participate in virtual and traditional reference initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Coordinator of Instructional Initiatives to assist in the development, design, teaching, assessment, and evaluation of the Information Literacy program.
• Envision, develop, and create educational content using a variety of new technologies and software to facilitate instruction, learning, and research.
• Envision, develop and execute the Library's involvement in outreach activities such as open house, orientation, etc. with a special focus on high school to college transition.
• Coordinate and execute the advertising/marketing of outreach activities through print and digital/social media initiatives.
• Serve as a liaison to Erie2BOCES and local school districts for K-16 initiatives.
• Assist faculty with the identification and development of Open Educational Resources (OER) content.
• Participate in professional development, service, and scholarly activities as outlined in the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees.
• Participate in collection development activities as assigned.
• Duties include evening and weekend hours on a rotating schedule.
• Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA accredited program, or the equivalent by the time of appointment.
• A strong and demonstrated commitment to public service with an ability to recognize, respect, and work effectively with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of ACRL's Information Literacy Framework, and of general library instruction theory and practice.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in library instruction.
• Proficiency using a wide array of electronic databases, technological applications, and traditional library resources.
• Commitment to excellence in the teaching of students and in continued professional development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills including the ability to:
o Effectively explain complex concepts in writing and verbally,
o Listen with empathy and respect,
o Work collegially with other faculty and staff within the department and across campus.
• Knowledge and familiarity with marketing, outreach and/or advertising strategies.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to:
o Initiate, organize, set and follow through on priorities, working independently and as part of a team,
o Take responsibility for following up on unresolved issues,
o Manage a complex workload in a timely and effective manner.
• Demonstrated commitment to professionalism within the field of librarianship.
• Availability to work some evening and weekend hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1-2 years experience delivering reference and instruction services in an academic setting.
• Participation in scholarship and/or service in the field of librarianship.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate online communication using social media.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate marketing, outreach and/or advertising of library resources and programming.
