The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) seeks a creative, collaborative, and nationally respected scholar to serve as the Lake Simpson Dickson Distinguished Professor to support the research, teaching, and service missions of the Department of Nutrition. The scholar must be a leader in research and education with a nationally-recognized research program, extramural funding, and peer-reviewed publications. This professor will enhance and expand the Department of Nutrition through research that complements the department’s current expertise in basic and translational nutrition. An accomplished academic, the scholar must be a leader in nutrition-based research, present excellence in teaching, a proven record of distinguished peer-reviewed publications, and a history and current external funding. The Distinguished Professor will have a dynamic opportunity to impact students, serve as a mentor to faculty, and contribute to the future scholarly direction of the Department of Nutrition.

UNCG is a public, coeducational, doctoral-granting, residential university and one of the three original institutions of the University of North Carolina System. The University holds two classifications from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching — as a “doctoral university with high research activity” and for deep “community engagement” in its curriculum, outreach and partnerships. With an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students, including 3,400 graduate students and 2,500 faculty and staff, UNCG is considered one of the most diverse universities in the UNC System. The Department of Nutrition enrolls more than 340 students in the Bachelor of Science, Masters of Science, and a PhD programs. Undergraduate studies are offered in three concentrations, in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition and Wellness, and Nutrition Science. The Didactic Program in Dietetics enables students to apply for a supervised practice program in dietetics, through a Post-BS Certificate-Dietetic Internship program. Distinguished
