Assist./Assoc. Professor in Education
Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Education, starting Fall 2020. We seek candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Doctorate degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Special Education, or related field
• Willingness to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses
• Competency and interest in teaching some of the teacher preparation courses at the undergraduate level; as well as some of the graduate level courses for the Master of Arts in Education degree in both the Curriculum and Instruction Specialization and the Special Education Specialization.
• Previous K-12 teaching and/or administrator experience
• Active Texas teacher certification
• Commitment to excellence in the teaching and advisement of undergraduate and graduate students and the development of future and practicing teachers
• Ability to work collegially with other faculty members in the department and across campus
• Understanding and support of the mission of Texas Lutheran University

In addition to the above requirements, preference will be given to candidates offering the following specific skills:

• Experience teaching in higher education in both the undergraduate and master’s degree levels
• Familiarity with curricular design
• Expertise with current special education policies and related practices in Texas at the K-12 level
• Active Texas teacher certification in the area of Special Education
• Familiarity with teacher education policies in Texas
• Expertise in working with diverse student populations
• Experience with clinical supervision at the K-12 level or supervising student teachers

The TLU Education Department is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and offers a Bachelor of Science leading to elementary, middle, and high school teacher certifications, as well as all level certifications in Physical Education and LOTE: Spanish. It also offers a Bachelor of Music leading to an all-level music certification. An Alternative Education Certification Program is also administered by the department. The department consistently has over 175 majors and averages 30+ graduates per year. Beginning in Spring 2020, the Education Department will offer graduate degrees in Education. This two-track program includes a concentration in curriculum and instruction or curriculum and instruction with special education as the specialization.
