The College of Arts, Sciences & Education at Florida International University is accepting applications for a Chair position at the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology. The College is looking for a dynamic leader to help advance the Department's and College's vision of becoming a hub for high-quality research. The Chair is expected to position the Department competitively in extramural research funding and work collaboratively with units across the School, College, and University. The department currently offers the Master of Science in Counselor Education, the Educational Specialist in School Psychology, and the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Management with tracks in Recreational Therapy. The department also provides service courses to the School of Education and Human Development in educational psychology, educational research, measurement, and evaluation. The department is currently working on developing a Ph.D. in related fields and a master's degree in Research Methodology.

Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in one of the department's program areas or a doctoral degree and significant pertinent experience. Effective communication skills with ethnically and culturally diverse populations is essential. A track record of significant scholarship and peer-reviewed publications demonstrated ability to obtain grants, and effective teaching and mentoring particularly at the graduate level are also required. Competitive applicants should have a strong research program with actual or clear potential for extramural funding. Experience serving as Chair of a department or serving in College or University leadership will be considered positively.

Responsibilities will include research, student advisement, serving on doctoral dissertation committees, and serving the university, professional, and local communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to the department, developing new programs, administering the budget, coordinating teaching assignments, evaluating and mentoring department faculty and staff, and supporting College and University student success initiatives. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
