Chief Regional Development Officer
The University of Tennessee Foundation seeks to fill a position with an experienced, dynamic, energetic, and creative leader to serve as the Chief Development Officer of Regional Development for the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center (UTHSC) in a major gifts role based in Chattanooga Tennessee. This role reports to the Vice Chancellor of Development and Alumni Affairs at the UTHSC campus in Memphis Tennessee and will oversee the portfolios and overall metrics of two direct regional fundraising reports. This position’s primary coverage area includes Chattanooga, Middle Tennessee, and assigned states within the continental U.S. On some occasions, the person in this position may also be expected to cover other territories as well. This role will establish strong relationships with UTHSC’s internal and external constituencies which include, the Dean of the College of Medicine for the Chattanooga campus, college Deans, faculty members, and members of related academics, administrative research, clinical programs, as well as, volunteers and alumni.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, eight or more years of successful development experience or equivalent professional experience; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to serve a diverse constituency; ability to travel, demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. A qualified candidate must demonstrate a minimum of two years of experience in management or supervision of regular staff. A master’s is preferred with a minimum of 6 years of the experience outlined.

Desired qualifications: Successful experience and proven track record of major gift fundraising solicitation in higher education or non-for-profit is preferred. Experience in strategic planning, proven ability to prioritize, manage complex projects, and work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment is preferred.
