Job Purpose
Towson University is accepting applications for a Nursing Operations Specialist responsible for the day-to-day operations and complex management of the simulation laboratories and oversee management needs for ExamSoft testing software (or similar product) for the Department of Nursing. Coordinate all simulation schedules across nursing courses and programs. Also responsible for inventory management and running department level reports. Oversee planning, moves, change request for space, furniture or equipment. Manage the integrity of the labs and unit rooms. Schedule and communicate with standardized patients. Act as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, which may also include high-level staff such as management team. Handle confidential and non-routine information and explain policies when necessary. Follow up and resolve all simulation lab issues or concerns and advise management as necessary.

Work collaboratively with faculty to develop and implement simulation and exam testing student rotations and schedules. Serve as the lead operations staff to insure proper and optimal use of all simulation facilities, insuring conflict-free scheduling, equipment and supply management and maintain state-of-the-art facilities that reflect acute patient care environments. Manage standardized patient policies and procedures, insuring scheduling of students, standardized patients according to expertise and clinical scenarios, and insure follow-up with all standardized patients regarding satisfaction, payment, parking, etc. Provide technical support for simulation technology and computerized testing lab. Provide a monthly report to the Chair re: budget management, identifying needs and efficient use of resources. Maintain operational budget, including tracking expenses and reconciling accounts. Coordinate general office support functions to include maintaining equipment inventory, personnel schedules, office equipment, and electronic filing. Establish standing supply orders (paper, toner, etc.). Restocking supplies, equipment setup and breakdown, and general housekeeping requests. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree. Two years of work experience. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft applications and sufficient level of expertise involving technology to use software based inventory system, and troubleshoot classroom technology used in simulation. Ability to manage a large number of tasks, prioritize, and see them through to closure. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to project a professional and positive image of the institution. Ability to interact with a diverse team and in a diverse environment.

Preferred: Experience working in a simulation lab. Experience working in a medical/health care setting and understanding interactions between health care providers and patients/families. The ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with computers and audiovisual components.
