Clinical Faculty & Director of Field Experiences: Pupil Personnel Services Division Visalia Campus

POSITION: Full-time, with faculty rank; non-continuing status track (non-tenure) clinical position in the Division of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS); 11-month faculty appointment in the School of Education.

STARTING DATE: July 1, 2020

BACKGROUND: The Pupil Personnel Services Division at Fresno Pacific University offers School Psychology, School Counseling and BCBA credentials. Additionally, the program offers the master’s degree in School Psychology and School Counseling. The program graduates are well prepared and highly desired in the educational community in California’s Central Valley.

The Field Experience Director position serves FPU campuses in North Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield and Merced. The director will coordinate field experience programs across all campuses and will meet regularly with the PPS Division Chair. This full-time position will be responsible for teaching courses in one of the PPS programs. The Program Director reports directly to the Chair of the PPS Programs and the Dean of the School of Education. The programs have experienced significant growth over the last four years.

ROLE

The Director, in collaboration with the SOE Office of Clinical Practices, provides support for the field experience components embedded in the PPS programs. The Director oversees the placement of School Counseling, School Psychology and BCBA students, coordinating with local districts for practicum, fieldwork and internships. In addition, the Director serves as liaison between Fresno Pacific University and the districts that employ FPU Interns.

• Provide leadership across regional campuses and support for the field experience components embedded in the PPS programs;
• Manage all Student Practicum, Fieldwork, Intern placements and MOU’s;
• Maintain updated Field Experience Handbook for the PPS Programs. Handbooks provide guidance for FPU faculty, Mentors, and local districts;
• Respond to changing accreditation regulations from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing regarding supervised fieldwork;
• Cultivate dynamic, working relationships with district and schools within the service area of the Fresno Pacific Campuses in order to identify and secure high-quality placement opportunities for PPS students;
• Foster relationships with local districts to encourage participation in field-based research activities by PPS students during field experiences;
• Working collaboratively with Local districts, PPS program directors, candidates and fieldwork Supervisors to secure placements of students enrolled in the PPS programs in local K-12 school districts;
• Identify, recruit and train clinical faculty for the PPS Division;
• Working collaboratively with PPS program directors and supervisors, respond to reports from FPU faculty and/or school personnel regarding problems in practicum, fieldwork or intern placements;
• Engage in ongoing professional development and participation in professional organizations, and agencies;
• Teach courses required in the PPS program (course assignments based on faculty person’s academic and professional knowledge, expertise, and experience);
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the PPS Chair and Dean of the School of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
• M.A. in School Counseling or School Psychology or related field;
• Commitment to preparing PPS students to work in diverse and high poverty K-12 schools;
• Experience in developing dynamic multi-agency partnerships;
• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment;
• Evidence of having acquired highly effective professional communication skills;
• Significant, demonstrated skills in utilizing technology to enhance communications and maintain accurate records;
• Demonstrated success working with diverse communities;
• Maintain professional memberships and professional development.
• Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.

Preferred:
• Record or promise of professional contributions to the field of education, and/or scholarly achievement;
• K-12 School Counseling or School Psychology experience.

COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
