Elms College located in Chicopee, MA is seeking a Director of Experiential Learning. The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) promotes high-quality, hands-on learning for students through research, service learning, study abroad and internships. The Director of Experiential Learning supports quality experiential learning course development among faculty, and assists employers to meet their workforce development needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 Setting goals, objectives, and priorities in alignment with the College's goal to provide all students the opportunity to participate in experiential learning.
 Strengthening the Experiential Learning Committee to oversee the Experiential Learning and Teaching grant process.
 Supporting faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality experiential learning and service-learning courses.
 Building a network of faculty and instructors from across the campus who teach using experiential pedagogies effectively.
 Spearheading the Experiential Learning and Teaching professional development programs for faculty, academic advisors and related staff, in conjunction with the Experiential Learning Committee.
 Advancing programs that educate students regarding the value of Experiential Learning related to employment success.
 Working with the Experiential Learning Committee to organize and implement the Experiential Learning Festival.
 Working with the Office of Institutional Assessment and Research for collecting and integrating experiential learning outcomes assessment data. Shares assessment data related to the liberal arts core curriculum, with the faculty assessment committee, and academic leadership.
 Developing the use of ePortfolios to communicate the value of experiential learning opportunities to a student's future employer or graduate school.
 Oversee the Experiential Learning Internship Coordinator who will liaise with the Office of Career Services, regarding experiential learning internship opportunities for students and tracking students' progress towards completion of the new experiential learning requirements.
 Measures effectiveness and quality of operations.
 Works with deans, chairs and faculty to capitalize on opportunities that increase their involvement in OEL programs to benefit students and strengthen meaningful community-campus partnerships.
 Grows partnerships and collaborations for experiential learning.
 Recruits, screens, hires, orients, trains and supervises staff.
 Evaluates employee performance and provides guidance and feedback to assigned staff.
 Plans activities and events that actively engage students with local and national partners.
 Plans and delivers presentations, schedules site visits, plans communication efforts, and develops publications to support marketing efforts.
 Partner with the International Programs Office regarding global experiential learning opportunities.
 Oversee the development of workshops and seminars covering relevant experiential learning topics.
 Works with Alumni Relations to strengthen alumnae involvement in experiential learning opportunities.
 Maintains current knowledge of trends in the field.
 Uses technology to streamline and strengthen the student experience.
 Administers the OEL budget and develops grants.
 Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Earned Master's degree required; terminal degree preferred.
 Minimum of three (3) years' experience working with, teaching, and supporting different types of experiential learning, and/or service-learning opportunities, within a curricular or co-curricular context for a college or university setting.
 Strong knowledge and awareness of best practices with experiential learning and service-learning within a higher education environment.
 Demonstrated ability to collaborate, build, and foster strong relationships with relevant stakeholders (faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners).
 Proven capacity to support faculty with strategies for effectively assessing their experiential learning course or other related active learning educational opportunity.
 Knows best practices and has experience with implementing safe experiential learning and/or service-learning courses and co-curriculum experiences.
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Moodle (or similar LMS).
 Background check will be conducted upon hire and on a routine basis thereafter. Valid driver’s license and good driving record are required and a willingness to travel.
