Adjunct Counselor
Founded in 1891, The Hotchkiss School is a competitive, college-preparatory boarding school for 600 students in grades 9-12. Position Summary:
The Hotchkiss School seeks an independently licensed mental health counselor starting in September 2020. This is an adjunct, 9-month position, working virtually one day a week and existing in the Counseling Department and a part of the 24/7 Health Center, reporting to the Director of Counseling. As a member of the counseling team, the position works collaboratively with Health Center mental health counselors, consulting psychiatrist, and health center staff. Counseling responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling to students, communicating with parents, faculty members, outside providers, and performing effective case management services and case coordination. Excellent documentation is required in our electronic medical record.

In addition to working one day a week counseling students, attendance at weekly department meetings, and availability to consult with families and faculty as needed is required.

Qualifications:
A master's degree in clinical social work preferred or an advanced degree in clinical or counseling psychology with a specialization in adolescent population and cultural diversity. The successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in cultural and identity-based experiences and will have experience working with adolescents and families, with preference given to applicants with five or more years of clinical experience and familiarity with evidence-based strategies in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care.

-Five or more years of relevant experience providing counseling services to adolescents
-Extensive knowledge of adolescent development and mental health issues.

-Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
-Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
-Strong knowledge of the ethical and legal considerations related to counseling practices.
-Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and vision.
-The candidate must obtain licensure within twelve months of working in CT State.

Compensation:
Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience and education level.
