Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs

Working in coordination with the SUNY Upstate Medical University’s main campus and consistent with LCME standards, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs is responsible for the Binghamton Campus budget and fiscal planning and management; oversight of contract and affiliation agreements; personnel management including faculty; establishment and nurturing of community relationships; development of collaborative inter-institutional endeavors in health delivery and education; administrator of a physician practice plan; teaching activities and media relations. Provides leadership, clinical knowledge, in-depth understanding of medical education, strong fiscal management skills, communication, finesse, innovation and positive motivating inter-personal abilities, all within the complexities of a state agency and the associated state regulations and union-negotiated contracts.

Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in a health career, human development, higher education or related field required; MD or Ph.D. preferred
• 3-5 years experience in curriculum design and faculty and program development
• 3-5 years experience in higher education, specifically managing finance and human resources, experience in SUNY system
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Reports directly to the Dean of the Binghamton Campus. Supervises related support staff. Works closely with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and other staff at the Binghamton Campus as well as with the deans and staff in both the academic and student affairs departments at the main campus in Syracuse. Salary depends on qualifications.
