Canvas, Open edX, and our learning technology integrations (LTIs) are critical to the success of University of Washington Continuum College courses and programs, and this role will play a vital part in a network of people working to provide the right learning at the right time to learners around the world. We are looking for a Learning Management Systems Manager who can strategically guide collaborative processes and ensure Learning Technology Integrations (LTIs) meet the current and future needs of our learners, staff, and faculty.

Ultimately, this position is responsible for ensuring that our Learning Management Systems (currently, Canvas and Open edX) and associated collaborative processes effectively serve our mission: that everyone deserves education to thrive in an ever-changing world.

-Learning Management System (LMS) Management and support
Lead and support efforts to ensure that our educational technologies reflect our values of diversity and respect for all, and a never-ending pursuit of excellence.
Lead projects and groups across UWC2 to improve our LMSs.
Lead collaborations with our internal and external partners, like University of Washington IT (UW-IT), the Provosts’ Center for Teaching and Learning and Learning Technologies teams, and our LMS vendors, advocating for our learners, teachers, and staff, in development and adoption of systems.
Manage Canvas sub-accounts and youth program instance with UW-IT.
Serve as internal subject matter expert on Canvas and Open edX features and functionality.
Manage LTI integrations with Canvas and Open edX.
Create, revise, and manage LMS support processes for UWC², ensuring that student and staff support needs are understood and met either within UWC2 or through partnerships throughout the University.
Provide tier 2+ support and vendor communication, prioritize upgrade requests and bug fixes.
Collaborate with our PMO on platform upgrades and vendor contracts.
Communicate with system users about system updates, outages and performance issues in a timely manner.
Generate monthly reports describing system updates, materials in development, systems usage, and inquiries. Generate quarterly reports about LMS support tickets, usage, and needs.
Lead and support efforts to ensure our LMSs are accessible to all users and promote equity of outcomes.
Participate in local, regional, and national user groups and professional organizations to stay abreast of trends and issues impacting the learning management system and online learning.

-Strategic Design, Planning, and Adoption
Utilizing UWC²’s strategic plan and your understanding of where the learning technology industry is moving, define future functional requirements and create/maintain learning technology roadmaps for feature implementation.
Own end-to-end research and implementation processes for new features and integrated tools to empower our staff, instructors, and students.
Partner with staff to conduct informal design research, using qualitative and quantitative measures to clearly define current-state gaps in functionality, prioritize most-impactful features, and lead cross-functional teams to implement updates.
Prepare comparisons of LMS/LT systems to assist with these design efforts, showing the learner experience in particular courses on different systems to help facilitate decision making and design efforts.
Co-lead our learning technologies committee and other groups to bring together the right subject matter experts and stakeholders to adopt technologies, resolve issues, and improve the student, staff, and faculty user experience.
Collaborate with staff and faculty to measure the effectiveness of learning technologies and practices.
Advise and advocate to leadership in UWC² and with external partners and vendors on the best and most impactful learning technologies and uses of those technologies for teaching and for our organizational investment.
Take responsibility for the success of projects that ensure our instructors and learners have the best digital learning environment available.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

Bachelor’s or equivalent experience AND four years of experience that includes:
Taking ownership of issues or changes and delivering systematic solutions.
Advising in technology strategy or design efforts.
Leading and organizing group work, decision making, and knowledge processes.
Advocacy for user needs.
Proven technology troubleshooting skills.
Ability to quickly research, learn, and document new software or processes.
Learning management system administrative or support experience.
Familiarity with ADA and online accessibility requirements.
Ability to accomplish work through delegation, handing off issues or research to other staff when needed.
Ability to interact effectively with staff, faculty, administrators, and students with a high level of customer service.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, and organization skills.
Understanding of Web Conferencing Software.

Experience with Canvas LMS.
Experience with Open edX.
Change management experience.
Project management experience.
