Recruitment Counselor (MCCC Grade 3)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits prospective students from high schools, businesses and community base organizations. Presents presentations and information sessions to prospective students. Counsels and assists students with the college enrollment steps such as application, financial aid, and placement test information. Assisting in developing/implementing marketing strategies for recruitment of students. Performs related work as directed.

May supervised clerical support staff, part-time and student employees if assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruits students for academic programs (i.e plans, schedules, and/or conducts on-campus, off-campus, and virtual recruitment events such as career information sessions, career fairs, panels, business expositions, open houses, workshops, high/middle school meetings, and campus tours; coordinates new student events, plans and organizes community outreach programs; identifies new target populations and agencies/businesses; telemarkets to interested students; travel to off-site locations; distribute promotional materials; facilitates setup and breakdown of events)
2. Works with diverse groups within the Greater Worcester Community and high schools to increase their awareness of the programs offered by the College.
3. Assists in developing, coordinating, and implementing marketing plans, objectives, and strategies for recruitment of students.
4. Assists students with enrollment steps and connects students with other student services areas.
5. Assists with promotion, implementation and documentation programs for students (i.e. provides marketing material; recruits students and screens for eligibility; provides link between employers/agencies and students in program; visits work site).
6. Visits and meets with local schools, employers/agencies and attends career fairs and other events to aggressively identify target populations and promote target programs of study.
7. Utilizes college database technology to best serve students.
8. Assists in the coordination of special recruitment/admissions events promotion through various venues including on-campus recruitment, career/college fairs, high schools and external employer/agency events and transfer activities.
9. Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities (i.e. maintains accurate, organized student enrollment list/statistical data, assists in compiling/mailing direct mail projects). Works cooperatively with academic advisors, faculty and staff to reach department goals in serving student population with recruitment, enrollment goals, credit for prior learning and service learning credit and transfer.
10. Assists other Admissions staff with Decision Application Day, college events and other recruitment activities.
11. Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas (i.e. maintains a working knowledge of assigned area; researches new trends/advances and best practices in the profession and utilizes information in daily work related tasks; reads professional literature; attends workshops and training sessions).
12. Conducts campus tours at the main campus, downtown and other off-sites as needed.
13. Operates a motor vehicle to conduct work activities.
14. Must be able to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
15. Performs other related duties as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or closely related field; with two (2) years’ experience and/or training involving college enrollment, customer relations, or office administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2. Direct experience in servicing high school and college students with a diverse population.
3. Knowledge of computer software and systems such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
4. Experience with student record and information systems and/or complex record
management systems.
5. Experience in providing quality customer services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bilingual is a plus.
2. Experience in Higher Education at a professional level in the student services or student affairs.
3. Have experience in recruitment, advising, transfer, job development, and/or career placement in college setting.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of workforce trends.
5. Experience in a community college setting and/or high school setting.
6. Successful experience in a position that required strong written and verbal
communication skills, attention to detail, and independent work.

START DATE:
March/April 2021

SALARY:
Full time benefited position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with MCCC salary schedule. Minimum starting salary for Grade 3 is $47,597-$53,000. Actual starting salary will be based upon such factors as education and experience per the MCCC rating structure.
