Senior Lecturer (Continuing)
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) seeks a Senior Lecturer (Non-Tenure Track) in Early Childhood Education to begin May 2021. The successful candidate will join the UNT’s Child Development Lab (CDL) as the Director as well as becoming a member of the Early Childhood faculty in a dynamic undergraduate program leading to EC-6 teacher certification. Childhood Education faculty also participate in the department’s graduate programs. Of particular interest to the College of Education (COE) are candidates who are committed to improving people’s lives through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health, civic engagement, and anti-racist education.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (offered at the UNT campus and online) in Early Childhood Education and Curriculum & Instruction and provide service to the Department, College, University, community constituencies, and professional organizations. As Director of the Child Development Lab, the successful candidate will collaborate with COE faculty in creating an environment conducive to research. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the daily, on-site responsibility for the operation of the child-care center, including maintaining compliance with the minimum standards, licensing laws, staffing, budget, and daily operations in compliance with Texas code and university policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

(1) Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field; (2) college-level teaching experience; (3) evidence of excellence in college-level teaching; (4) evidence of experience as a director, assistant director, or as a caregiver working directly with children in a DFPS licensed or certified child-care center (or similar type of day care center that was formerly licensed, certified, or accredited by DFPS) or experience as a director, assistant director, or caregiver working directly with children in a licensed or certified child-care center in another state or country-6 years of closely related professional experience is required; (5) minimum of six college credit hours in management. (6) active Child-Care Center Director’s Certificate.

Preferred Qualification:
(1) Doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field; (2) Teaching experience and/or work in a childcare that focuses on and with Communities of Color like those found in Texas; (3) Proficient in Spanish.

Required Certification:
Active Child-Care Center Director’s Certificate.
