DIRECTOR, SPRINGFIELD REGIONAL CAMPUS
We invite individuals to apply for the position of Director of the Springfield Regional Campus. The core function of the Director of the Springfield Regional Campus is to guide the development and implementation of high-quality nursing education for undergraduate students and collaborate within the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing to advance faculty scholarship. Administratively, the Regional Director is head of this Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Regional Program and accountable to the UIC College of Nursing Dean.

The Springfield Regional Campus is one of five regional campuses in Illinois that are part of the College of Nursing (CON), along with Peoria, Quad Cities, Rockford, Urbana, and the location in Chicago making the CON a very unique nursing institution. Located in the State’s capitol in the captivating Land of Lincoln, this Central Illinois campus has partnered with the University of Illinois at Springfield, and Memorial Health System and its Magnet-designated hospital to deliver superior education and practice opportunities to nearly 125 students.

Teaching/Learning:
• Work with faculty to create and collaboratively implement the UIC Nursing curricula that allow rapid and convenient access to nursing education, electronically or face-to-face.
• Identify, seek and obtain or contract for instructional resources and clinical learning sites.
• Oversee development and implementation of timetables, teaching schedules, and clinical site placements across the region.
• Implement academic and educational policies within the regional program.
Student Support:
• Recruit, orient, and facilitate student progress (advising, tutoring, special student initiatives) within the academic programs.
• Assign mentors/advisors and monitor outcomes.
• Manage student or advocate concerns/issues when necessary.
• Facilitate student leadership development and governance.
• Create facilitative communication processes and modalities.
Faculty Development and Scholarship:
• Engage in faculty recruitment, screening/interviewing, appointment, orientation, and evaluation.
• Facilitate (with the department heads) the professional development of professorial rank faculty, assisting with promotion and other aspects of career development as needed.
• Encourage innovative nursing scholarship (education, research, and practice).
• Allocate resources and oversee productivity for ‘in-house’ and ‘virtual’ faculty and student work.
• Facilitate the attainment of outside resources to support regional program activities in the form of grants, contracts, or gifts.
• Administer the UIC CON faculty practice plan as it applies to regional faculty.
• Participate in the conduct of teaching, research and practice, as appropriate.

Operations:
• Provide leadership in developing and administering cost-effective support services that involve but are not limited to: all aspects of student and staff recruitment; budgetary and space planning and facilities maintenance; strategic planning and information management regarding regional program initiatives; and negotiation of contracts with outside health care or educational agencies as necessary to provide appropriate clinical teaching, research, or faculty resources.

University and Campus Relations:
• Represent faculty and students at college, campus, or university levels.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean on student, curricular and faculty teaching issues.
• Collaborate with other University of Illinois disciplines in proximity to the regional campus.

Community Relations:
• Partner with community agencies for mutual gain.
• Facilitate the marketing plan for any regional education, research and practice programs.
• Develop and implement plans for creating visibility for the regional program within the relevant communities and surrounding areas.
• Facilitate alumni relations in concert with Office of Advancement personnel.

Minimum Qualifications: This is an administrative scholar position with faculty appointment commensurate with rank and scholarship. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree and be eligible to be appointed at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor or higher. Additionally, a master’s degree in nursing is preferred; five years of experience in teaching is required and at least two years of administration in higher education in nursing is preferred.
