Postdoctoral Fellow, Forensic Chemistry
Florida International University in Miami, Florida is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the Almirall Laboratory, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry and International Forensic Research Institute for a one-year appointment with possible extension for one additional year.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Analytical or Forensic Chemistry and evidence of research excellence (publication/presentation record).
Desired Qualifications: Previous knowledge and experience with forensic chemistry and/or analytical chemistry. Statistical analysis of data including multivariate experience is preferred.
The postdoctoral research fellow will join a team of 12 researchers that aims to improve the analysis and interpretation of chemical evidence including using advanced statistical analyses of chemical data. The postdoctoral fellow will work with PhD students in two main areas; 1. Glass evidence analysis by LA-ICP-MS and development of the use of a glass database to calculate likelihood ratios (LRs) to assist with evidence interpretation and 2. Development of a prototype field test kit for the identification of marijuana-type cannabis in the field. Some research administration will also be required.
