Asst/Associate/Professor (Statistician)
The School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Missouri – Kansas City seeks applications for a faculty member in our PhD program who will act as a research and statistical consultant. This full-time, 12-month tenure/tenure-track faculty position will have an integral role in fostering innovative research by supporting faculty and student researchers affiliated with the School of Nursing and Health Studies and UMKC. This is a unique position that emphasizes applied biostatistics. The individual will promote high-quality research by providing expertise on proper research design and assist researchers in ethical and accepted methods of data analysis and interpretation. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers of varying levels of experience and expertise; from novice students, faculty, and clinicians to experienced and extramurally funded researchers. They will have expertise working within multi-disciplinary teams, research methodology and advanced statistics. It is expected that some collaborations will result in scholarly publications, grant applications, and funded research opportunities. The ability to teach advanced biostatistics as well as participate in courses related to evidence-based health care, biomedical and health informatics, and clinical research is also part of the job duties for this position.

The faculty selected for this position will be expected to: a) maintain an active program of scholarship and externally funded research; b) provide statistical support for faculty applying for intramural and extramural funding; c) teach in the educational programs in Nursing; d) provide service appropriate to the position; e) advance the goals of the School of Nursing and Health Studies and the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Strategic Plan, including our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as demonstrated by research and teaching efforts; and f) provide guidance in the application of technology to health research. The school seeks faculty of regional or national prominence to teach in our innovative programs. Accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education, the Commission of Accreditation and approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing, the School values excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and service.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in biostatistics, nursing, public health, or related field. ABD will be considered.
Experience working with nursing and/or health science practice, education and/or research personnel.
Evidence of outstanding scholarship and current extramural funding
Record of / demonstrated potential for quality teaching and service appropriate to the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
If an RN, holds an unencumbered RN license issued by the state of Missouri or in a Compact state.
Full Time/Part Time
Full time, benefit-eligible, 12-month appointment
