Rider University invites applications for a Director of Counseling Services. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs & Dean of Students, this individual will provide leadership, administrative oversight and supervision for Counseling Services in conjunction with Rider University’s mission and ethics of the counseling profession.

Specifically, the individual will be responsible for:

• supervising, training, planning, evaluating and directing Counseling Services staff and operation;
• coordinating 24/7 on call response to student and community crisis;
• providing campus outreach to ensure that members of the Rider community are made aware of services provided by Counseling Services; and
• collaborating with off-campus medical professionals at local hospitals and mental health agencies and clinics.

Position Requirements:

• Doctorate in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, counselor education or related field
• 5 years of experience in college counseling
• License-eligible or state certified
• Knowledge of student development especially related to underrepresented and marginalized populations
• Demonstrated sensitivity to student diversity and knowledge of programs and resources that support inclusion efforts on campus
• Demonstrated clinical, assessment, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, direct, plan, manage and administer a counseling program

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• 1-3 years of experience providing clinical mental health counseling, preferably in a counseling center or agency setting
• Experience with an adolescent and/or young adult population
• Experience with issues related to a college population, such as substance abuse, trauma and domestic violence, eating disorders, identity issues, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders
• Experience designing and implementing programs for underrepresented students to reduce barriers to seeking treatment
• Ability to design and implement training activities for staff
• Experience using electronic medical records
