Clinica Associate
The University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria (UICOM-P) is seeking candidates for a part-time (50%) Clinical Associate of the Rural Student Physician Program (RSPP). The Clinical Associate will handle the day-to-day logistics of the program teaming with a Program Director (0.3 FTE) and Clerkship Coordinator (0.4 FTE). RSPP is a Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) that nurtures 3rd year medical students to become physician leaders in rural and underserved settings.

The RSPP is housed by the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM). The Clinical Associate - RSPP will be based at the Peoria campus in the DFCM. This clinical curriculum integrates experiences across most disciplines of the 3rd Year (Phase 2) and places students for about 6 months in rural Illinois communities. Since inception in 1997, there have been 120 RSPP students. Of these, over 45% are serving in rural communities.

RSPP brings into focus one of the reasons our campus came to being—nurturing physicians who will stay in Central Illinois. We were founded to enhance the workforce of rural Illinois. Training physicians in the rural setting with an innovative longitudinal integrated curriculum promotes return to similar settings. The education thrives on longitudinal relationships with patients, faculty, and a rural site.

Preferences: experience in Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship management or coordination; organizing medical education programs; Public Health or academic program administration; healthcare management, or population health/community engagement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Team building skills are critical.
