Rider University invites applications for a Navigation Coach 2. Reporting to the Director of the Student Navigation Office, this individual will provide individual, holistic support to new and returning students through success coaching. The Navigation Coach will promote success by empowering students to take ownership of their education and by partnering with students to identify and achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals – thus leading to increased student retention and overall success.

The Navigation Coach 2 will also:
• support an assigned caseload of new transfer students and continuing adult learners;
• help ensure students are adjusting to campus, accessing resources critical to academic and personal success, and participating in the Engaged Learning Program;
• guide and monitor students through the goal-setting and pre-registration processes;
• inform students of important University policy and procedures; make appropriate referrals to university supports;
• participate in student onboarding events, such as New Student Orientation and Welcome Week; and
• collaborate with peer coaches and other units to develop and deliver programs supporting student success and retention.

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, flexibility, and strong time management skills
• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• The ability to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
• Master’s degree
• Experience in higher education administration
• At least two years related experience in academic advising or counseling of adult and non-traditional learners
• Basic knowledge of computer software applications and Banner
