Faculty Transition Program: Postdocs
Faculty Transition Program: LSA Collegiate Fellowship/President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
University of Michigan

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EARTH) in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks exceptional applicants for the President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (PPFP) and LSA Collegiate Fellows Program (LCF). Both the PPFP and LCF are postdoctoral fellowship programs that include the possibility for a tenure-track position offer, either at the start or the completion of the fellowship period. Both Fellowship programs seek applicants whose research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. The program is particularly interested in scholars with a demonstrated interest in bringing to their teaching/mentoring, and/or service/engagement, and/or research the critical perspectives that come from nontraditional educational backgrounds and pathways, and/or scholarly understanding of the experiences of groups who are historically underrepresented or marginalized in higher education. Successful candidates are offered either a postdoc alone or a combined postdoc and tenure track faculty appointment. Fellows participate in a program that includes faculty mentoring, professional development, and academic networking opportunities. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2022. Previous participants in these programs include current tenure-track faculty members in the department.

The PPFP and LCF programs are competitions for scholars across multiple disciplines/fields and are administered by the Provost’s Office and College of LSA, respectively. They have slightly different eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and application materials. The department can assist applicants in confirming their eligibility, and links to the programs are provided below.

Priority consideration will be given to applications received by October 4, 2021 for departmental review and recommendations to the respective programs. Additionally, candidates must also submit their application materials directly to the PPFP (October 18) and LCF programs (November 1), according to their respective deadlines.
